Father William Vit is the Rector of the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City,
Iowa. He studied at the Gregorian University in Rome and ultimately received his STL in Patristic Theology. While in Rome, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and served as a chaplain candidate in the Naval Reserve. He has since become a Chaplain with the Air Force serving the 185th Air Refueling wing in Sioux City. Upon completion of his studies in Rome and ordination to the priesthood he was sent to the Pan American University in Mexico City to develop skills in Spanish to serve the needs of his Spanish speaking parishioners. He has served at the Cathedral since 2008 and ministers to the community in both English and Spanish as well as offering Mass in the Extraordinary Form and in Vietnamese. In his eight years at the Cathedral, he has fostered greater understanding of immigrant populations in Sioux City. He has cultivated international partnerships with parishes in Jalisco, Mexico as well as with the Dominican Province of Saint Albert the Great in Saigon, Vietnam.
