The Basilica of Saint Mary, co-cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, is a community rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ committed to the spiritual growth and social well being of the city. With over 6,700 registered parish households, The Basilica is a bustling, lively urban community currently led by Rev. John M. Bauer.
Recognized as one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the country, the Basilica of Saint Mary was designed by E. L. Masqueray and was constructed between 1907 and 1915. It’s also the first Basilica in the United States, honored by Pope Pius XI in 1926, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
